    Edward E. Hoos of Livingston Manor passed away on Friday December 25, 2009 at home. He was 83. Edward was the son of the late Fred and Ellie Witt Hoos, born on September 19, 1926 in Livingston Manor, NY. He was involved in many different activities throughout his life. He was a past member of the Hoos Truck for 23 years, a member of Livingston Manor Masonic Lodge # 791 for 62 years,and a member of Cradle Rock Ridge Hunting Club. He was the owner of the Hoos Bakery in Livingston Manor for 32 years. He was a present member of the Presbyterian Church in Livingston Manor. Edward was a true outdoors man; he found enjoyment in fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was a man that loved to work with his hands; he would take pleasure in working with all different types of tools, and mastering the art of carpentry and furniture making. He is going to be sorely missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his loving wife Alice of 54 years, two sons; Jay and his wife Corinne of Livingston Manor, Carl and his wife Peggy of North Wales, PA. , Seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his infant daughter Marie Elly, three brothers Fred, Otto, Paul Hoos, two sisters Charlotte Hoos, and Henrietta Rose. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 from 7-9 PM at Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street, Livingston Manor, NY 12758. A Masonic service will be held at 8:00pm at the funeral home. A service will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 11:00AM at Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home.     Olav Langeland of Parksville passed away on December 29, 2009 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 70. He was the son of the late Astrid and Otto Langeland, born on May 16, 1939 in Norway. A family statement reads he was a loving father and grandfather; he will be sorely missed by all that knew him. When Olav wasn\'t surrounded by his loved ones he worked as a Carpenter. This is when he found himself to be a true craftsman, he build his home from the ground up. Olav was a member of the Masonic Norseman Lodge in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Olav leaves behind his loving wife Olivia Hansen Langeland of Norway, three sons Leif Harry Langeland of Norway, Arne Otto Langeland and his wife Lisa of Woodbourne, Tor Olav Langeland of Parksville, one daughter Anita Louise Langeland of Chicago, ten grandchildren Crystal Holden of SC, Oliviann, and Frankolav Langeland both of Norway, Dmitry Bolsoni of Chicago, Carl, Olav, Arne, Peterson- Langeland, Megan, Abigail, and Victoria Langeland all of Woodbourne, one great grandchild Christian Holden of SC., one sister Hildur L. Vallespir Normington and her husband Donald of Parkridge, NJ., and many nieces and nephews. Donations can be made in his name to any Parkinson Disease Organization of one\'s choice.

    Matthew \\\"Mat\\\" Baron passed away suddenly on December 04, 2009 at home. He was 25. He is the son of Elliott Baron and the late Nilza Diaz, born on October 14, 1985 in Rhinebeck, NY. Matthew was a proud graduate of Liberty High School and then enlisted in our United States Marine Corps. in 2004 and served our country heroically until 2006. He was currently employed by Coach USA, and a member of the People for Equal Justice. Mat was a loving father of nine month old Gianna Rose Baron. He is survived by his beautiful daughter Gianna Rose Baron, his father Elliott Baron and his wife Sandra, his grandmother Sally Baron, four sisters Yvonne, Jamie, Dawn Baron, and Charlotte Diaz, three brothers Sidney, Shawn, and Jeremy Baron, and one step brother Aaron Fretz. Matthew was predeceased by his mother Nilza Diaz and his brother Jonathan Baron. Visitation will take place on Monday, December 7, 2009 from 12-1:30pm at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home 396 State Route 52 Woodbourne, NY 12788. A service will be held on Monday, December 7, 2009 at 1:30pm at the funeral home. Rabbi Michele Medwin will officiate. Interment will follow at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery, Sunset Blvd. Liberty, NY.

  • Ruth V. Meyer

    Ruth Virginia Meyer passed away after a long illness on December 13, 2009 at CRMC Harris NY. She was the daughter of the late Admiral Dewey Webster and Kathleen Mary Young. She was born on January 17, 1929 in Baltimore Maryland. She was the widow of Frank Meyer who predeceased her in 1989. Although born in Maryland the Webster family moved back to Ireland and when they immigrated back to the US in 1934, a family black and white snapshot of Ruth age 5, and her two older sisters Hilda age 6 and Mary age 7, sitting on the seawall in Dublin Ireland, facing a storm cloud gathering on the Atlantic Ocean would be printed as a icon of the 20th century immigration to the US. It is titled “Entre Nous”. She is survived by her 3 sons: George and his wife Maxine Wisniski of Palm Coast Florida; James and Elsie Webster of Tampa, Florida; and Desmond Wisniski of Ferndale NY. She is also survived by three daughters, Maryann and her husband Joseph Sawicki; Pauline and her husband Don Lopresti all of Southold, NY and Kathleen and her husband Frank LaBuda of Wurtsboro NY, 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren also survive her. She is survived by her brother Charles Webster of Baltimore Maryland, sister Hilda Tragerer of old town Florida and Maureen Webster of Phoenix AZ. She was predeceased by four siblings: Thomas Webster, Robert Webster, sisters Mary Stello and Patricia Garrish and one granddaughter Elisabeth LaBuda. Ruth lived life to the fullest and instilled that same love for living in her children. Ruth raised and showed pedigree dogs throughout the east coast, winning many awards; at the age of 16 Ruth was an accomplished equestrian and was renowned for her ability to dive while on the back of a horse 50ft. into a pool of water (which was later made into a movie). She was an avid hunter who shot numerous bucks and black bear in the Adirondacks Mountains of NY. She is most lovingly remembered for her devotion to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the saintly staff and nurses at the Skilled Nursing Unit at CRMC who Ruth considered her second family for the past 16 months.     Florence N. Welch of Livingston Manor passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Sullivan County Adult Care, in Liberty, NY. She was 87. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Helms and Lillian Ferguson born on May 27, 1922 in Long Eddy, NY. She loved flowers and found great enjoyment in cooking and baking. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Florence paid special attention to her grandson Lenny. She was loved by everyone that knew her and will be sorely missed by all her friends and family. She is survived by her sons Avery \"John\" Welch of Livingston Manor, Alfred Welch and his wife Joan of Florida, Richard Welch and his wife Lorraine of Livingston Manor, many grand Children and great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Avery \"Toot\" Welch, one daughter Florence Dalby two sons William and Leonard Welch. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 27, 2009 from 7-9pm at Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street, Livingston Manor, NY 12758. A service will be held on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 10:00 at the funeral home, Rev. Francis Waite will officiate.     Nellie Rebecca Marks Vogt Livingston Manor passed away Thursday December 24, 2009, at Roscoe Regional Rehab & Residential Health Care Facility. She was 81. She was the daughter of the late Harrison and Cecelia Keesler Marks born on October 24, 1928 in Roscoe, NY. Nellie was a loving mother and grandmother and spent her time making her home as loving as possible for her family. When she wasn\'t spending her time with her loving family she was working as a secretary at DuBois Oil. She was also a past member of the Presbyterian Church. On her free time she found enjoyment in knitting and crocheting. She is survived by one grandson Ronald Marks Jr. and his wife Stacey of Goshen, one granddaughter Amanda Lee and her husband Rob of Florida, one daughter-in-law Patricia Decker Marks, four great grandchildren Megan, Lexi, Harrison, and Zoe, her sisters Rita Maus, Frieda Pericho, and Betty Burns, and her faithful companion Robert \"Bob\" Graver, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Ronald Marks, and several brothers and sisters. Visitation will take place on Monday December 28, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Herbert C.     June Finkle of Livingston Manor passed away on Monday, December 28, 2009 at home. She was 65. June was the daughter of the late Alfred and Anna Henneberg Austin, born on July 30, 1944 in Jersey City, NJ. All that knew June knew she was one of a kind. She was a great person with a big heart. The memories June leaves behind are priceless and will never be forgotten. June was a great person all around. She will be sorely missed. She leaves behind her three loving children Judith Camara, Vernon Finkle Jr. and Arthur Finkle, six grand children: June, Lee, Christina, A.J., Dakota and Anneliese, three great grandchildren: Ashley, Amber and Glenn, four brothers: Larry, Lee, Alfred and Lem Austin, five sisters: Joan Toher, Joel Destefano, Judy Froehlich, Jacqueline MacEntee and Jennifer Startup, along with many nieces and nephews and a very close family friend Paul Tuggle.     Elizabeth \"Lizzy\" Drumm of Loch Sheldrake passed away on Friday, February 12, 2010 peacefully at home with her friends by her side. She was 93. She was the daughter of the late James and Emma Weir Drumm born on December 1, 1916 in Manhattan, NY. Elizabeth was a kind loving woman to everyone. Elizabeth made many friends throughout her long life and will be particularly missed by her extended family at New Hope Community. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her. She is survived by her friends at New Hope Community. She is predeceased by her sister Veronica Drumm.     Helen Ada Simpson Viele Bedrick of Livingston Manor passed away on February 18, 2010. She was 91. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Ada J. Thompson Simpson, born on November 19, 1918 in Livingston Manor, NY. Helen was the widow of Ottis Viele. Before his passing they owned and operated a gas station in Turnwood, NY. Then she retired from the Sullivan County Court System. Helen was very active in her community, just to name a few of her affiliations she was a member of the Lew Beach Ladies Auxiliary, Lew Beach Cemetery Board and The Liberty Methodist Church. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her. She is survived by her loving son Arthur O. Viele and his wife Barbara of Liberty, one grandson Donald O. Viele and his wife Theresa of Liberty, a granddaughter Helen L. Williams and her husband Everett of Livingston Manor, NY, seven great grandchildren Kody Viele, Brandon, Douglas, Jeremy, and Curtis Williams, and Christopher and Dominique Smith, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her first husband Ottis Viele. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street Livingston Manor, NY 12788.     Evelyn A. Simpson of Livingston Manor peacefully went to join her husband Bob in heaven on Tuesday, March 9, 2010. She was 78. The daughter of Claude and Marion Ernie Sprague, she was born on October 7, 1931 in Parkston, New York. Evelyn worked many years in The Loomis Hospital and retired as a teacher’s Aide from the Livingston Manor School District. She was also heavily involved in her community as past president of the Livingston Manor Volunteer Ambulance, a past member of the Manor Hose Auxiliary former member of the Livingston Manor Presbyterian Church and the Livingston Manor Teachers Association. Evelyn also liked to spend time doing crafts such as knitting, sewing & crocheting. She also took great comfort in reading her Bible. She loved game shows but most recently her computer. But most of all she was a devoted wife to Robert S. Simpson whom she married October 15, 1945. She was a loving mother and grandmother She leaves behind, one son Dane Simpson of Livingston Manor two daughters Darlene Smith of Livingston Manor and Cheryl Wilbur and her husband Bob of White Sulpher Springs: granddaughters, Barbara Smith of Livingston Manor and Roberta Wilbur of Middletown: and grandsons, Robert Wilbur and his wife Jamie of Chicago and James Wilbur of Liberty : four great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter ,Evelyn also is survived by one sister Genevieve P. Benton and her husband Donald of Middletown along with several nieces & nephews. Evenly joins not only her husband but one daughter Beverly Porter and two brothers Thearn Sprague and Keith Buck.
