Obituary of Bebe Loizeaux

Please share a memory of Bebe to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Bebe Loizeaux, 93 years old, passed away on March 15, 2024 after a long and fruitful life.  She was pre-deceased by her husband of 51 years, Timothy (Tim) R. Loizeaux Jr., her sister Jean Feaster, her daughter-in-law Kathy Loizeaux and her son-in-law Walter Dobushak.  She is survived by her 4 children; Steve and wife Barb, Mark and wife Cindi, Harriet and Matt; her 12 grandchildren, Drew and wife Jenna, Anna and husband Andres, Katie and husband Jon, Martha and husband Jesus, Stephanie and husband Jim, Michelle, Joshua and wife Jena, Ben, Ted and wife Nicole, Valerie, Nadiya and partner Derrick, and Paul; and her 11 great grandchildren, Manolo, Luca, Keira, Parker, JJ, Tayler, Everett, Jackson, Aubre, Isla, Holden and a 12th great grandchild due in May.  Such is her deep and abiding legacy in life and impact on family.

Bebe filled her life with many roles.  She was born and raised in Reading, PA, to parents Paul Butler and Sarah Oxenrider Butler. She went to college at East Stroudsburg State and met Tim in Roscoe, NY, marrying in 1950 and joining him in his roles in the service to our country.  She lived in Plainfield, NJ for 20 years where she was a full-time wife and mother, cared for her elderly parents, was a Girl Scout leader, and was an active church member and choir participant.  Upon moving to the family retreat in Beaverkill, NY, she worked with Tim in his software business, took on church music director responsibilities, taught music and pre-school part time. She and Tim were active in a Methodist summer camp for youth, consistent with their life-long commitment to youth camping.

At age 60, she felt called to the ministry and was ordained as a Pastor in the United Methodist Church. She served several congregations in New York including East Branch, Harvard, Lew Beach, Livingston Manor, Beaverkill and Parksville.  She touched many lives.

After Tim’s passing, Bebe wintered many years in Sarasota, FL where she was active in her local Methodist church and her retirement community.  She ultimately returned full time to her beloved Beaverkill home, enjoying the seasons of the northeast, reading, doing various word puzzles, cheering on the NY Mets on tv and watching the local birds.  Fiercely independent and strong-willed, she was forever “Bebe” to all who knew her.  A unique and forceful character who loved God, her family, her music and her community.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in memory of Bebe to the “Loizeaux Camp Scholarship Fund” through the United Methodist Frontier Foundation, 20 Soundview Avenue, White Plains, NY 10606 or to the Livingston Manor United Methodist Church, 89 Pearl St. Livingston Manor, NY 12758.
